Young Jeff entered the
world in a peasant community in Northeast Nebraska. His
first success with a projectile came when he smacked his older brother with
a pacifier from across the dining room table. (Not bad for a nine
year old.)
This love of flying objects could lead the lad in only one direction---Tennis.
He first entered the Zito Nation shortly after the team had
been shattered by a group of chemically impaired tennis officials who promoted
our only talented players to a higher class. At the first
team meeting,
we identified him as an obvious leader. (He was wearing a toga and carrying
a sword.) His inspirational address to the group ended with
the now legendary
statement "A couple dead monkeys don't stop no circus!".
We put down our beers and elected him captain.
